Tips and tricks - Tenochtitlan, by fish

|

8th August we will drive Tenochtitlan in the 4th RPG round race, and on this occasion I'd like to give you some tips and tricks on how to drive this map as fast as possible. I'm not going to show you the obvious stuff, for that you can check out some of the replays on TMX. I'm not going to show you any cuts either.. Again, I suggest you watch replays from TMX if you want to know more.

*Note: Because of performance issues on these videos, I have decided to hide them by default, so it doesn't cause lag for the whole site*

Tip #0 - Start tip
Do like this video. It is much safer, there is no way you can land on your head with that speed. However, it does require some practice to get it 100% right.

Tip #1 - CP2
This is the fastest way to enter the building after CP2. Just do as I do on the video, crashing into the wall, and you will be okay.

Tip #2 - What if I fail?
If you have to restart at this CP, you do not have to drive in a circle or go backwards to gain enough speed, just do a wide turn like I do on this video:

Tip #3 - CP3/4
This one is quite obvious, but the fastest way to get down to the ring boosters is by crashing sideways into the wall behind CP4 and get an instant turn like on the video.

Tip #4 - CP9 no-rs tactic #1
If you lose speed somewhere after the first jump on this cp, and you realize that you do not have enough speed to make the jump through the ring and onto the invisible road, then jump up here [as shown in the video] is your solution. Note that you don't even have to turn back and take as much speed as I do here.

Tip #5 - CP9 no-rs tactic #2
Still on CP9, if you try to jump, but can't reach the invisible water, just do like this on the video. It's faster than to restart.

Tip #6 - The wallride + dirt jump save
If you screw up on the dirt-hill the first time (when you have speed from the invisible road), you don't need to turn around or drive backwards to gain extra speed. It's just about where you hit on the dirt hill. Try to hit exactly where I do on this next video. It might be hard to see, so I suggest you practice this. After the dirt hill I'm also doing the wallride in the fastest way possible. Note: this might not work as good for you padders). Basically, you stand still on the wallride like on the video, and then press and hold "accelerate" while you turn to the side. Hold both buttons down all the way, and you're over. I have a success rate of 9/10 tries probably, but sometimes you can jump over the side of the wallride because it's too fast.

Tip #7 - CP13 and 14 -> water bounce
This trick is insanely fast. You come from CP12, jump in the middle and land in front of two CPs. Take them in the same order as in the video, and go straight for the water bounce. This one takes a lot of practice, and maybe even some luck.

Tip #8 - Fell down from the pipes after the ring?
If you fall off the pipes AFTER you have taken the ring, you can restart and jump right in the water and take the CP from the water. Note: this is dramatized. You do not need to jump down in the water when you are on the pipe, I only did it as an example of falling down after the ring. If you land on your wheels in the water, you can also try to drive to the CP from there and not restarting.

Tip #9 - CP17
The fastest way up this loop is to just drive forward from the water, but you need some luck over the edge for that. The safest and "fastest" way to do this is like in this video tip:

Tip #10 - CP20 all-in-one
(Messy driving from me here) For this CP, just take the CP and gain the speed for the next jump in just one turn. Very fast. Watch the video.

Tip #11 - CP26
This is the fastest way to take the two rings. Just watch the video.

Tip #12
HawkGer found this safe method for the last trick of the map. It requires some practice, but has a high success rate when you know how to do it.

Tip #13 - The finish jump
Many people drive in circles and all over the place to gain enough speed here. Eie found this nice route where you just drive right up to the finish jump.

Bonus tip #1 - by HawkGer
The video says it all.
